Professional Leadership Network Predict To Raise Over $65,000 In Support Of Local Underserved Youth

CINCINNATI, OH – May 31, 2018 – The Professional Leadership Network (PLN) of Dan Beard Council, Boy Scouts of America will host the seventh annual Dodgeball Challenge tournament on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Washington Park from 12pm – 4pm. The proceeds from the tournament will help send several hundred under-served local youth to Dan Beard Council’s Challenge Camp, an exciting summer camp program designed to prepare youth to become well-equipped citizens by instilling in them the timeless values of service, leadership and ethics.

“My father, Joe Rippe Sr., always loved to have fun and when he could help others at the same time he was truly in the ‘zone’,” said Kate Rippe, managing partner at Innova Financial & former committee member. “My family is honored to support such a great organization in memory of my father; who believed so strongly in working to improve the community in which we live. PLN is full of people who have a passion for helping to improve our city and mentor local youth. I can’t think of a more fun way to give back than to raise money for underserved youth in our community while playing a fun game of dodgeball.”

On the day of the event, teams will square off at noon in a round-robin tournament, and then a single-elimination tournament. By 4:00 p.m., the winning team will claim the title of Dodgeball Champion of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

“As co-chairs of this fun yet unique community event Megan Ossenbeck, the Transaction Manager for Cushman & Wakefield, and I are proud to be the conduit that helps bring corporations and young professionals together for such a great cause,” said Matt Hemberger project manager at Anchor Properties and co-chair for the event. “This event is hosted by the Professional Leadership Network and will help send hundreds of underserved youth to challenge camp this summer, which will provide them with team building opportunities they might not otherwise get to experience.”

In 2017, over 31 corporate sponsors partnered with PLN for the Dodgeball Challenge. The event raised more than $74,000 to benefit under-served youth in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area. Last year’s tournament showcased approximately 300 young professionals and others who competed in this fun and worthwhile event.
