Required Training by 2012

The Board of Directors of the Dan Beard Council believe that adult leader training is essential in ensuring that all registered youth receive the best Scouting program possible. Adult leader training help leaders get acquainted with the Scouting program, how it works and how to implement it, while delivering a fun and exciting experience for the youth. Therefore, units rechartering on or before December 31, 2010, a three year training initiative has been established to achieve a goal of 100% trained unit leaders.

For units rechartering on or before December 31, 2012, but after March 1, 2012:

All registered leaders (including Committee Chairs and Committee Members) must have completed the required courses for their registered position. Unit charters without all registered leaders trained will not be processed. Units with Committee Members who are not trained may be processed, given that two (2) or more Committee Members are trained. Untrained Committee Members will be removed from the charter.

Effective January, 2010 ScoutNET will be the official source of training records. All units can work through their District Training Chair and District Professional to check their unit’s training records. Any errors to those records can be corrected through the District Training Chair, District Professional, and Council Support Staff. Training records will be adjusted and updated under the auspices that a “Scout is Trustworthy.”
