The Dan Beard Council, BSA would like to offer our Scouting dens and packs opportunities to participate in Scouting activities virtually! For details, click here.

The Dan Beard Council, Boy Scouts of America would love our Scouts, Scouting families and volunteers to participate in Oasis Senior Advisors’ Cards for Seniors Campaign that collects cards from people across the community and delivers them, following safety protocols for each senior living community, to the seniors. Click here to find out how to participate.

Many Scouts participated in our Campsite At Home Contest through our Scouting At Home video series. Come rain, snow, sleet, or social distancing, our Scouts will still camp! Our contest ran from Wednesday, April 1, 2020 through Wednesday, April 8, 2020. To see the winners, click here.

Scouts of all ages participated in our Golden Spoon Photo Contest through our Scouting At Home video series. We know a lot of our Scouts love to camp, and where there is camping, there is usually a campfire with yummy food! Scouts prepared their favorite camp-style cooking recipes, and took photos to enter our Golden Spoon Photo ContestTo see photos of the entries and the winners, click here.

Digital Safety Guidelines

As local councils and units use digital and online resources, such as video conferencing, to continue Scouting meetings, projects and advancement during the COVID-19 outbreak, the National Council is providing guidance in this BSA Safety Moment that can be shared with anyone who has questions about topics such as video conferencing safety for Scouts and leaders. Note: This guidance is not comprehensive, and if it differs from the legal requirements of your state or local jurisdiction, please consult with your local council attorney.

Topics addressed for conducting online Scouting activities safely include:

  • Follow all Youth Protection policies.
  • Use business-oriented conference platforms instead of platforms with other primary purposes (such as gaming).
  • Do not record online activities/meetings.
  • Safeguard personal information.
  • Collecting personal information from youth under 13 is not recommended.

For full details, view the Safety Moment, which is available publicly on Scouting.org.
