The lead gift for the campaign was made by the Marge and Charles J. Schott Foundation. With the help of this gift, the Dan Beard Council has successfully completed the Inspiring Achievements Capital Campaign.  The plan includes the development of a new 26,500 square foot campus. In honor of this gift, the council will permanently memorialize Marge’s love of children by naming the Scout Achievement Campus in her honor.  Reading Road traffic measures in thousands of passing cars each day.  Marge’s name and support of Scouting will be visible to each visiting Scout and each passing motorist.

Every year, the Dan Beard Council impacts the lives of nearly 30,000 children in Southern Ohio and Northern Kentucky. These Scouts are inspired to learn, do and achieve. The creation of an outstanding Scout Achievement Center as a volunteer education and resource facility that embodies the Scouting experience helps to inspire these youth to achieve. 

Marge is extremely well known in the Scouting community for her strong dedication and benevolence to the Dan Beard Council.  She is also recognized for her major donation that was used to create a lake at Camp Friedlander, helping it to become one of the premier camping facilities in the nation. The artificial lake was named Lake Marge Unnewehr Schott.  The Dan Beard Council is especially grateful to have such an inspiring and gracious individual to help us affect the lives of so many youth.
