We are gearing up for what will be another great event! On Thursday, January 23, 2014, located at the Scout Achievement Center, we will celebrate the life and accomplishments of Whitney M. Young Jr. The Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award is in fulfillment of Dr. Young’s dream of justice and equality for all. In recognition, we will honor one company and four individuals for making Scouting available for youth in urban and rural areas. This award recognizes outstanding service by an adult individual or organization for demonstrating involvement in the development and implementation of urban scouting programs. Silver Beaver Award Recognition Updates
The Dan Beard Council Program and Activities Committees are thrilled to announce some new opportunities and enhancements around the distinguished Silver Beaver Award. We recognize the significance of this notable award. With the feedback and help of several Silver Beavers, we have developed an exciting new process to recognize deserving volunteers and expand the influence and impact of these distinguished individuals by uniting them together.
In 2014, we will begin celebrating our Silver Beaver recipients much like we currently recognize our new Eagle Scouts. This will be accomplished in a two-step process:
This is a process that has worked well and there is a level of symbolism and significance in emulating this ceremony. We strongly believe that this new process will:
