Scout Executive Minute

“A week of camp life is worth six months of theoretical teaching in the meeting room.”  These are the words of Boy Scouts founder Baden Powell

and they still ring true today.  We are most fortunate to have some of the best camping programs in the nation, right here is Dan Beard Council.  What better way to put Scouting into action but to provide the ideal outdoor laboratory for a boy to put into practice the camping and Scout skills that he has learned through the year.

Our camping programs provide opportunities and resources for boys to experience and overcome new challenges.  These camps not only provide fun, foster friendships and make lasting memories but also provide a sense of spirituality by bringing boys into the serenity and beauty of God’s creation.

If you haven’t considered one of our camping programs, it’s not too late!

The Scouting movement has been strong in the Greater Cincinnati area since Daniel Carter Beard's days with his "Sons of Daniel Boone" in Covington, Kentucky over 100 years ago. Today, with a membership of over 33,000 Scouts and their families impacted by great Scouting programs, and a community that embraces the important work of character development that Scouting delivers, the Dan Beard Council Scout Achievement Center (SAC) serves as the home and headquarters for Scouting in our area.

This impressive 27,000 square foot structure celebrates the traditions of Scouting, provides a state-of-the-art meeting place for thousands of volunteers, and houses the council service center. Built with the next 100 years of Scouting in mind, the Scout Achievement Center project has become a landmark in the Scouting world and the Cincinnati community, incorporating green features, a beautiful natural building design, and future-ready technology.
