Second Century SocietyA society grows great when people plant trees whose shade they know they shall never enjoy.

Your support of the Dan Beard Council's endowment fund ensures that the strong Scouting programs that we enjoy today will be available for our children, grandchildren and all youth for generations to come. Gifts to the endowment are restricted so that the principal of the gifts is never spent. These funds are carefully invested and the investment earnings are then put to work annually to fund the programs of the Dan Beard Council

Second Century Society to

Grow DBC Endowment Fund

The Dan Beard Council’s endowment fund is getting a new name, a new goal and new leadership!

Second Century Society

The council’s planned giving efforts are now known as the Dan Beard Second Century Society. This new name comes with a goal of growing the council’s endowment in order to provide long-term, permanent funding for the council.  Planned Giving Chair Steve Korach said, “We hope that every Dan Beard Council volunteer will consider the Scouts when they do their estate planning”.

Korach, an Eagle Scout and Silver Beaver recipient was recently asked to chair the planned giving committee.  This, coupled with the hiring of long-time Scouter Jeff Taylor as the Planned Giving Director, places an increased level of importance on the fact that a strong endowment is critical to the long-term financial success of the council.

Planned gifts can be as simple as including the Dan Beard Council in your will, donating a life insurance policy, creating a life income annuity or even establishing a James E. West Fellowship as recognition of a Scouter’s achievements.  Donations to the endowment are held in perpetuity, which means your gift is never spent but is rather invested.  Earnings from the investment are then used to support Scouting in the Dan Beard Council for generations to come.

The Dan Beard Second Century Society is a very special group of people who act on their belief that it’s important to leave a legacy of support for Scouting.  Anyone who includes the Dan Beard Council in their will or does any other form of planned giving will become a Second Century Society member.  The Society will hold an annual event and donors receive special recognition for their support.
