Good Quality Scout Experience
Each year at this time we begin to sign up for Summer Camp. At all levels of our program, camping is Scouting's eternal call. It is in the outdoors that Scouting works best. The Founder of Scouting, Robert Baden- Powell understood this very well. The very first Scout Camp was a weeklong event on a small island in Poole Harbor England. From this experience, the Scouting adventure began. All Scout Camps trace their lineage to Brownsea Island. The formula that Robert Baden- Powell created over 100 years ago still works today -- fun and adventure under the open sky, campfire stories and the unforgettable experience of a week with your friends.
Many years ago one of my mentors said to me "If you take the Outing out of Scouting all you have left is SC and that stands for Second Class Program". Outdoor adventure and the Summer Camp experience are vital to a Quality Scouting experience.
As summer approaches, make your plans to attend Summer Camp. There is not a better experience than a Dan Beard Council Summer Camp. Let us help you plan your week. Contact your District Executive today. I hope to see you at Camp!

Commissioning is all about “Unit Service”!

Camping Programs Provide Opportunities and Resources
“A week of camp life is worth six months of theoretical teaching in the meeting room.” These are the words of Boy Scouts founder Baden Powell and they still ring true today. We are most fortunate to have some of the best camping programs in the nation, right here is Dan Beard Council. What better way to put Scouting into action but to provide the ideal outdoor laboratory for a boy to put into practice the camping and Scout skills that he has learned through the year.
Our camping programs provide opportunities and resources for boys to experience and overcome new challenges. These camps not only provide fun, foster friendships and make lasting memories but also provide a sense of spirituality by bringing boys into the serenity and beauty of God’s creation.
If you haven’t considered one of our camping programs, it’s not too late!
The Scouting movement has been strong in the Greater Cincinnati area since Daniel Carter Beard's days with his "Sons of Daniel Boone" in Covington, Kentucky over 100 years ago. Today, with a membership of over 33,000 Scouts and their families impacted by great Scouting programs, and a community that embraces the important work of character development that Scouting delivers, the Dan Beard Council Scout Achievement Center (SAC) serves as the home and headquarters for Scouting in our area.
This impressive 27,000 square foot structure celebrates the traditions of Scouting, provides a state-of-the-art meeting place for thousands of volunteers, and houses the council service center. Built with the next 100 years of Scouting in mind, the Scout Achievement Center project has become a landmark in the Scouting world and the Cincinnati community, incorporating green features, a beautiful natural building design, and future-ready technology.
