What is Spring into Camping?
Spring into Camping is an
overnight camping adventure for Cub Scout families. Designed for campers
that are new to the outdoors as well as those with previous experience. The
Spring into Camping program offers outdoor activities and events that will make
for great Scouting fun!
The activities include all
of the Scouting favorites to earn belt loops and rank advancement items. Practice your sharpshooter skills on the BB
gun range, or aim for a bull’s-eye on the archery range. Spend some time with
your family creating a craft you can bring home and show off. And of course
there will plenty of games, events, and challenges to test your skills.
In the evening, join us for a rousing campfire full of
songs, skits, and cheers. Then we invite you to enjoy your own campfire at your
camp area where you can mingle with Boy Scouts and Venturers, meet other Cub
Scouts, have a cracker barrel, and relax.
This year, two sessions of camping are available. Families
can choose to come in Friday evening and break camp
Saturday afternoon, or come in
Saturday evening and break camp
Sunday afternoon.
Families can arrive after 5pm and the camp will close the next day at
noon.
Each
family will be able to enjoy the activities they choose. We will also provide a Scout’s Own Service on Sunday.
|
What Will We Eat?
We
will provide breakfast for your family with a choice of cold cereals,
oatmeal,
fruit, milk, coffee, and hot tea. We
will have dinner foods available for purchase at reasonable prices upon
your arrival. Vegetarian offerings will be also be available. If
you plan to go fishing after
you check out, please bring a sack lunch, as there will not be food
available
at camp. |

What Should I Bring?
You will need to bring all items your family needs for about 18 hours
outdoors. You will need a tent, sleeping
bag or blankets, pillow, chairs, and personal items you require. We would also suggest bug spray, sunscreen,
and a water bottle or canteen. Make sure
you stay hydrated! You may also want to
bring a backpack to carry your crafts and water bottles easier through
camp. We also suggest you leave your
uniforms at home.
|
What Should I Expect?
Expect
FUN! Expect games and activities all day long. Expect to get
dirty. Expect the unexpected. This time of year the weather
can be tricky. Make sure you have warm clothing for during
the night.

Spring Into Camping is an opportunity for area Troops and Crews to
provide service to the council and the Cub Scouts who attend. This event has
been responsible for setting up an opportunity for Cub Scouts to earn items for
rank advancement and/or fulfill requirements toward arrow points, belt loops,
the Outdoor Award, Leave No Trace, and the World Conservation Award. This would not be possible without the
support of the many Troops, Crews, and adult volunteers who dedicate their time
to plan a fun-filled weekend. Staffing begins on Thursday night with
setup and continuing through Sunday night with cleanup.
