SCOUTING & UNITED WAY PARTNER IMPACT
The Dan Beard Council is proud to partner with the United Way of Greater Cincinnati, Warren County, and Butler County. Through our partnership, Scouting delivers local outreach programs and initiatives throughout the year for youth from all walks of life, many from the inner city. Below are just a few of the key highlights from 2019.
PARTICIPATION TRIPLES IN HIGH SCHOOL OUTREACH CAREER EXPLORATION PROGRAMS!
135 youth from Cincinnati Public Schools participated in a unique career mentorship program. The program partners youth with local companies and industry professionals so they can gain experience in those career fields.
- Our Outreach Healthcare Exploring program more than doubled in size from 31 youth to 63 youth participating in programs at University of Cincinnati and Mercy Hospitals.
- Engineering outreach participation grew from 6 youth in 2018 to 31 youth in 2019!
- Exploring is helping local youth discover new potential career fields for their future.
Outreach programs served over 3,000 local youth in a month-long series of program lessons focused on potential careers, planning, and hometown heroes.
Over 3,000 local youth participated in a
month-long series of our outreach program lessons that taught them about healthy eating habits, exercise and more.
1,937 youth (up 26%) participating in our
outreach programs earned a Scout rank advancement. Scouts work with a parent
or adult to complete a comprehensive set of
BSA defined Adventures and requirements in order to accomplish a rank advancement.
