Benefits, Programs and Facilities
Have you enjoyed Cub Scout Adventure World, hiked through scenic
Camp Michaels, broke bread in the dining hall at Camp Friedlander or visited
one of the Scout Service Centers? If so, you have benefited from programs and
facilities provided by the Dan Beard Council to support your Scouting Pack,
Troop, Crew or Post. These amenities are made possible through community
support such as our annual "Friends of Scouting" campaign.
Each year, the Dan Beard Council relies on hundreds of volunteers to share with
the public and our Scouting families information on how we are funded and what
resources are available to our members. The "Friends of Scouting"
presentation is an opportunity to educate your adults on how the council is
financed. It is an informative meeting and will help you plan special events or
learn more about camping opportunities available. When developing the agenda
for your Blue and Gold Banquet or Court of Honor in early
2007, make sure you
allow for 5-8 minutes for a "Friends of Scouting" presentation. A
training course for our presenters will be held to prepare volunteers for the
presentations. Recruiting of volunteers may occur as you welcome new families
into your group this fall. It is a short term project and will get parents
involved with an easy first step.
By holding a presentation, your Scout Group will have completed one
of the steps to earn FREE rank advancements. In addition, a special recognition
item will be awarded to all of our Scouts whose families are contacted at the
Pack or Troops presentation. No gift is required, just receiving
information at the meeting will qualify the Scouts for the collectible item.
Every family should know how our program is funded.
