Who Can Attend
Wood Badge is fundamental leadership training for adult leaders in all of Boy Scouting's program areas--Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Varsity Scouting, Venturing and Sea Scouting--as well as Council and District leaders. This includes assistant leaders, committee members, and "just parents" in all areas.
Leaders are encouraged to attend Wood Badge early in their Scouting career, preferably within two years of becoming leaders. There are no minimum tenure requirements.
Since it is the final phase of fundamental training, though, there are some important requirements. You must
-
Be a registered as an adult leader of the Boy Scouts of America, and active in a Cub Scout pack, Boy Scout troop, Varsity team, Venturing crew, or a District or Council position.
-
Have completed basic training for the position you currently hold.
-
Have completed the outdoor skills training for your position.
-
Be capable of functioning safely in an outdoor environment.
(A Class 3 Medical Form is required.)
-
If you have previously attended a Boy Scout Leader Wood Badge, special rules apply. See below.
-
Bring your Scouting spirit and a desire to learn and grow in your knowledge of Scouting and yourself. It will be a great experience!

Graduates of Boy Scout Leader Wood Badge
If you earned your beads after taking Boy Scout Leader Wood Badge, you may attend Wood Badge for the 21st Century under two conditions:
-
You do not displace a person who has never taken a Wood Badge course before. The Course Director, who knows the number of participants currently signed up, will notify you if that is likely to be a problem.
-
You agree to write and work a ticket.
If you took the Boy Scout Leader Wood Badge but did not complete your ticket, you may take this course without restriction.
