The Spook-O-Ree is a family Halloween event for everyone! Every year, the Spook-O-Ree grows and grows as we add new activities, more scares, and more fun. Join the thousands of families that will venture out to Cub World and enjoy Halloween in a safe, family-friendly environment at a cost that fits just about any budget.

New for 2009:

Challenge yourself to the newest addition to the Spook-O-Ree - a crazy maze wandering through walls of straw bails. Can you find the end and ring the bell inside? Great for all ages and a fun family activity, the Straw Maze is sure to become this year's biggest hit.

The Straw Maze is open all night long and one run through the maze is included with the price of admission.

The Cub World nature trail is usually a quiet and beautiful walk through the woods. But during Halloween, the ghosts and creepy things that haunt the Little Miami River come out to play! Venture into the woods and get a scare, led by one of the Spook-O-Ree staff.

Groups will be leaving to walk the trail regularly throughout the night and the trail can be visited an unlimited number of times.  Keep in mind that the haunted trail might be a little too intense for the younger ones!

Everyone is invited to wear their best Halloween costume (adults too!).  During the event, contestants can stop by the booth at the midway. At 9pm, the costume contest winners will be announced at the ampitheater.

Prizes will be given to everyone participating in the contest, and the winner will be given a special prize.  So make your favorite costume and get into character!

The Cub World castle is being haunted by ghouls and goblins.  Do you dare adventure in to see the spooky scenes awaiting you? The haunted castle will be open after dark and running continously through the evening. This activity is only recommended for older children and those daring souls that can take a scare or two.

One visit to the Haunted Castle is included in the price of admission.

Looking for a safe and fun way to go trick-or-treating? Visit the Cub World Fort, where kids can go door to door and fill up their sacks with some tasty treats (or maybe a trick or two). This is the perfect way to bring your kids trick-or-treating without worrying about traffic or other dangers. Behind each door will be a camp staffer in costume with plenty of candy to share.  And this year we have everyone's favorite -- chocolate!

One round of trick-or-treating is included in the price of admission.

Time to have some Halloween fun! Try your hand at the many themed games on the Spook-o-ree midway. Participants of these games of skill and chance will receive special tokens redeemable for prizes at the Prize booth, with extra tokens going to the winners.   This year we will have more games, new games, and the whole game area will be well lit.

Tickets will be sold for participation in games and 10 tickets are included with the price of admission.  Additional tickets are 25 cents each.

Take an adventurous hayride through some of the less visited areas of camp! See the camp staff in costumes putting on some magical (and spooky!) Halloween scenes. The hayride will last about 20 minutes and will run continuously during the evening.  This year we will have more hay wagons, shorter lines, and more fun!

The Halloween Hayride is included in the price of admission and can be visited an unlimited number of times.  Recommended for all ages.

Do you like stories?  Take a rest around the campfire as our storyteller spins his yarns and tells some tall tales that are sure to get you in the Halloween spirit.  He comes from far away and travels wide and far to share his stories of wonder and fantasy with the world.

All of the stories will be suitable for all ages of children, and stories will begin at regular intervals. You won't want to miss this memorable part of the event.

Come enjoy your favorite Halloween treats.Vampire ears (caramel apples), popcorn, spider webs (cotton candy), hot dogs, chips, and more will be available at the concession stand! Hot chocolate, hot apple cider, coffee, and soft drinks will also be available.

Snacks and beverages at the concession stand can be purchased with tickets.

Everyone!

Admission is open to Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, siblings, friends, friends of friends, parents, grandparents, guardians, family members, your long-lost third cousin twice-removed, and anybody else you want to bring.  Sorry, no pets.

Staff
Attention Boy Scouts, Venturers, and leaders!

It takes a lot of volunteer staff to make the Spook-O-Ree happen, and we need your help. Staff are needed on both Saturdays, from 2pm to 10pm. This is an easy and fun event to staff, with no preperation on your part (except perhaps getting your awesome costume ready).

If you or your unit are interested in helping, please let use know!
