Cub Scouting at it's best...
For those boys looking for the
ultimate Cub Scout Summer Camp experience, this is it! Adventure
Camp is a chance for boys to realize their full potential as they spend four
days and three nights at Cub World. Together with their den and others their age, your son
will use the power of his imagination to be swept away to another time and
place.
Adventure Camp is a great chance
to earn advancements, participate in one-of-a-kind activities, and make
friendships that will last a lifetime. Our top-notch Camp Staff brings an enthusiasm that makes camp
memorable the whole year-round. Pack leaders and parents in
combination with the camp staff provide leadership and
supervision.
|
What is Adventure Camp?
Adventure Camp is a four-day, three-night Cub Scout resident camp held
at Cub World. This is a theme-oriented program where boys, with other
Scouts their same age, will earn advancements, learn new skills, and
take part in many new and challenging experiences.
Boys will
stay in an area appropriate to their age and rank: Tigers and Wolves
stay in the Fort, Bears stay in the Castle, first-year Webelos stay in
the Mountain Man Village, and second-year Webelos stay in the Miner's
Camp. Each area is designed to meet the developmental level of the boys
that stay there. In addition, during the day, Scouts will participate
in the program of their area, playing games that match the theme and
working towards advancements that help them towards their next rank. |

What do Scouts do?
 |
Each of the four theme
areas has a unique program that is age-appropriate. For example, the
first-year Webelos at the Mountain Man Village may learn how to build a
fire and tie lashings to build an outdoor playground. Bear Cubs at the
Castle may use their handicraft skills to build a medieval catapult or
create their own sword and shield.
The programs are designed to fit the theme of the area, work towards
advancement requirements, and be engaging to boys of a certain age
level. On Wednesday night, each area will have an area-wide activity
that will be the highlight of the week. All of the programs and
activities are planned and facilitated by our camp staff.
There are also several times when the entire camp will come together
for some great fun. The world-famous Cub World campfire, with skits,
songs and silliness, will start off the week on the first night of
camp. A campwide game, covering the entire boundaries of camp and
including every camper, leader, and camp staff, is held on Tuesday. And
the big finale comes on Thursday, when families are invited to join us
for dinner and enjoy the closing campfire performed by the Scouts.
Of course, we offer plenty of the traditional favorites such as swimming, shooting sports, camp games. Visit the Activities page to learn more about what every Scout will get to do at Adventure Camp.

Webelos II Outpost
 |
For Webelos II Scouts, Adventure Camp is a perfect time to prepare for the crossover into Boy Scouting.
On Wednesday night of camp, all Webelos II Scouts will have the unique
opportunity to follow the staff up into the hills of Cub World and
experience Camp Friendlander first hand. Following this exciting
hike, the boys will settle into their own campsite on the edge of Cub
World, playing games, learning real Scouting outdoor skills, cooking
over a fire, and sleeping out under the stars.
The Outpost activity has been the favorite of older Cub Scouts for many
years, and is meant to prepare boys for the more challenging
experiences of Boy Scouting ahead. We ask that leaders do not
participate in this event, as this is a great time for the campers to
bond with the staff and begin to learn a sense of self-sufficiency and
leadership. The campers will be supervised by adult staff who
will remain in constant contact with the camp management. |

Packs, Dens, and Leaders
Adventure Camp is designed for camping by dens. Each
den is encouraged to stay in the area that fits their rank, living and
playing as a part of the theme. However, some Packs choose to stay all
together in one area which can be arranged when registering for camp.
To make sure that each boy has a chance to come to camp, we also offer
an individual camper program, where the camp will help find leadership
for a boy that may not otherwise be able to attend.
Volunteer leaders are what make camp possible. They help to supervise,
organize, and get the boys between activities. Each Pack is required to
have at least two leaders in attendance at all times. For every five
Scouts, another leader is required. Packs need to have one leader in
each of the areas of camp where the boys stay. Leaders are welcome to
trade in and out throughout the week as needed as long as the
leadership requirements are met.
Of course, there will be plenty of assistance from the camp staff in
making sure Adventure Camp is a great experience for all. The staff
will run all of the activities, serve the meals, and help with any
other needs your group might encounter while at camp. |

Safe, Secure, and Rewarding
 |
While the rest of the world can be uncertain and
perhaps dangerous, we pride ourselves on providing a safe and fun
environment for youth. Parents and leaders can rest assured that the
boys they send to camp will be in good hands, and that they just might
return understanding what it means to be a good citizen.
Our camp staff is fully trained in safety, emergency procedures, youth
protection, and other areas that make us a safe haven for kids. We
spend extra time on teaching our staff about a boy's emotional
development, so we can make sure each camper feels comfortable.
Cub World is one of the premier camping facilities in the nation with
safety as our first concern. The camp has earned a 100% accreditation
rating from the Boy Scouts of America every year since its opening in
2000. Each camper and leader wears an idenifying wristband to ensure a
secure camp.
While some boys (and parents too!) may be a little timid about four
days at camp, we believe that the reward for overcoming this challenge
is unmeasurable. Our Camp Chaplain and fun-loving camp staff are
experts in combatting homesickness. We have found that many boys that
might at first not feel ready for camp will leave feeling a sense of
achievement and ready to come back for another week! |
