Designed to inspire the imagination...
Cub
World has four imaginative theme areas for campers to explore. Each
area highlights an era of the past, immersing Scouts and their families
in a world all their own during their stay at camp. For Adventure Camp,
Scouts are housed in any of
the four program areas based on rank and participate in the age
appropriate
program there. For Fun with Son, Scouts and their families can
choose to stay in any area they wish.

Pioneer Fort
This location offers four and eight person sleeping
rooms with screened windows, bunk beds with mattresses and an indoor plumbing
facility. Each
room also has electric
outlets for a box fan on hot nights, and there is a fire ring behind
the Fort
for den campfires. There are two large activity rooms on the inside
corners of the Fort, and the two covered turrets on the upper deck make
for great ourdoor activity centers. The Fort is also the home of the
Cub World Trading Post and the Nature Center. There is a restroom
inside the Fort and a showerhouse facility will be shared with the
Castle. The Fort has a 68 person capacity.
For Adventure Camp, the Fort daytime program is designed for Wolf Cub
Scouts and Tiger Cubs to help ease the boys (sometimes leaders, too!) into the
camping experience and includes lots of games, crafts, and fun for younger
boys. The theme of the Fort will invite
the boys to imagine themselves as the cowboys of the Old West, Indians, or
pioneers.

Medieval Castle
Like the Fort, this location offers four and eight
person sleeping rooms with screened windows, bunk beds with mattresses and an
indoor plumbing facility. Each
room also
has electric outlets for a box fan on hot nights, and there is a fire
ring next
to the Castle for Pack campfires. There are two large activity rooms on
the inside corners of the Castle, and an upper deck goes all the way
around the top making for great views over the ramparts across the
battlefields of Cub World. There is a restroom inside the castle, and a
showerhouse facility will be shared with
the Fort. The Castle has a 72 person capacity.
For Adventure Camp, the
Castle daytime program is designed for Bear Scouts, mid-level Cubs, and will
include some Scouting skills, lots of games and sport activities, and
crafts. The theme of the Castle will
reflect the myth of the medieval knights and lords of old.

Mountain Man Village
This is a unique camping experience in canvas
tents on large wooden platforms up in the hills of Cub World. Even
when the hot summer sun beats down on Cub World, the Mountain Man
Village stays cool and breezy under the shady canopy of trees. Each
tent can sleep two and includes cots and
mattresses. A large pavilion at the
bottom of the hill serves as an assembly area. The shower house shared with
Miner’s Camp is only a short walk away from the village. The Mountain Man Village has a capacity of 72.
For Adventure Camp, the Mountain Man daytime program, designed for First Year
Webelos as they prepare for their journey into Boy Scouts, is more primitive
than the Castle and Fort programs and will include many Scouting skills and a
focus on the outdoors while still offering plenty of games, sports, and
crafts. The theme of the area will be
along the lines of mountaineers such as Jeremiah Johnson and the pioneers of
the fur trade.

Miner's Camp
This is
the most primitive of the theme areas. The tents are on wooden
platforms setup like
an 1800’s gold miner’s camp, with an actual mine where the
boys can dig for
gold. A stream runs through the camp where boys can pan for
gold, fossils, and other
treasures. The entire camp is surrounded by tall trees, and is bordered
by the Camp Friedlander Boy Scout camp. Each tent sleeps two and
includes cots and mattresses, and the camp has a pavilion and fire
ring. A shower house shared with the Mountain Man Village
is a short walk from the camp.
For Adventure Camp, the Miner’s Camp daytime program, designed for
Second Year Webelos, is focused on outdoor skills and preparing for the
crossover to Boy Scouts. The most
anticipated activity for Miners is the one-night “Outpost.” This exciting experience will find the boys
hiking through Camp
Friedlander to see
first-hand what the Boy Scouts do, followed by the fun and adventure of
spending the night under the stars with the camp staff at a campsite on the
edge of Cub World.
