ADULT RECOGNITIONS

PURPOSE

The Boy Scouts of America has many ways in which to recognize and honor outstanding adult leaders.  It is important that we recognize effective leadership or we may lose the services of volunteers that we truly need.   One way we can do this through effective use of adult awards and recognitions.

This section is designed to identify what these awards are, how they can be obtained, and to ensure that the requirements are easily understood and universally applied within the council.  In some cases, the award can be earned and applied for by the participant.  Other awards require nomination from the leader’s peers.  These awards fall under 4 major categories for national and council-level awards: Participation, Program, Service, and Training.  In addition there are also a number of district-level awards.  Click on each award to see a full description of its requirements and to obtain the award’s application or nomination form.

Be certain that you identify and recommend recognition for leaders that are particularly effective.  Please do NOT depend on others to do this.  At the same time, please take the time to apply for awards that you have earned yourself.
